August 18, 2016 – An amendment to the RPAC-NM Bylaws that would give RPAC-NM Trustees the authority to adjust the length of Trustee terms to meet the current requirements of continuity as spelled out in Article IV, Section 3, will be considered at the RPAC-NM Annual Meeting on September 20, 3:30 p.m., Hotel Albuquerque.

Article IV, Section 3 reads,

“To provide continuity, terms (three years) shall be staggered so that approximately one-third (1/3) of the selected trusteeships are available each year.”

Because of resignations and other factors, the one-third rule is unenforceable and the proposed amendment would allow the Trustees the authority to make adjustments to get back on track. The proposed amendment will read,

“In the event the terms of more than one third (1/3) of the trustees are scheduled to expire on December 31st of any given year, then prior to December 31st of that year, the Trustees shall have the authority to adjust the terms of existing and/or incoming trustees in order to re-establish the system under which approximately one-third (1/3) of the trusteeships become available each year.”
