NMAR’s advocacy programs encompass four major activities: legislative activity, issue/position development, fundraising for the political action committee, and grassroots involvement. NMAR monitors legislative proposals and proposed rules which may affect REALTORS® or private property rights.
An extensive volunteer network is involved in government affairs, with REALTORS® across the state serving on committees and task forces that further our knowledge and ability to take action to protect homeowners, commercial property owners, and landowners.
REALTORS® are active at three levels:
- New Mexico State policies, rules and legislation are monitored by the New Mexico Association of REALTORS®, which advocates for REALTORS® and private property rights.
- Local REALTOR® boards and associations address issues at the county and city level.
- Federal government affairs are monitored and lobbied by the National Association of REALTORS®.
